Description

4/7/22 - This is a scarce Luger variation that was produced by the Vickers Ltd. Company in England for the Netherlands. These were produced by Vickers because DWM was not allowed to deliver 9mm pistols due to the Treaty of Versailles. There were approximately 10,000 made however they are very rare today as they saw considerable use in the Far East and most you see are in terrible condition. Almost all were arsenal refurbished during the 1925-1933 time frame, and that does not detract from the value of these rare pistols. This particular gun has a 1931 date on the barrel, which is when it was refurbished. This one is all matching numbered parts and has the brass plate with unit marking on the left side of the frame. The marking indicates it was property of the "Staff of the Sixth Infantry Brigade" of the Dutch East Indies Army. The firing pin and hold open are both unnumbered. The grips are marked only with an asterisk on each panel, so perhaps replaced by an arsenal. It has retained roughly 70% of its finish most of the bluing loss on the barrel and front strap, but oxidation/patina throughout. WW1-era magazine with mismatched bottom. The bore is clean with strong rifling, just minor frost throughout.
