Description
6/3/21 - This is an excellent example of the very rare and iconic Borchardt C-93 as manufactured by Loewe & Company of Berlin. The Borchardt pistol employed the unique toggling breech mechanism which was eventually adopted and refined by George Luger and was used for the production of the Luger P.08 pistol. It's one of only 1,100 manufactured, and presumably only a couple dozen such examples still exist in such condition. It's all matching and original, including the magazine. There is minimal bluing loss, with nearly all of it on the toggle mechanism. There is minor surface oxidation in several other areas though. Bore is shiny with pronounced rifling but there is some frost and freckling in the grooves. The only part we are unsure on is the slab style grips, as we haven't seen other examples with this style (others were checkered). These grips are properly machined with several appropriate cutouts to fit the frame design of the C-93, so it's possible they are original but we can't say for certain. NOTE: A helpful customer has shown us another example of these grips on a pistol only 20 serial numbers off from this one, so we now believe they are period original and a rare variation.Specifications
