Description
10/6/26 - This is a rare, early Springfield Armory Model 1911, manufactured in 1914. Springfield-made 1911s are hard to find, with only about 30,000 produced. This one has all the proper markings, including the Springfield Eagle and flaming bomb proofs. It has a proper Springfield barrel. Then only small parts that are "S" marked are the hammer and main spring housing. The original finish rates about 85%, with general high edge wear and some thinning, mostly on the right side of the barrel and the right side of the frame. There is honest spotty patina on much of the gun and an area on the right side of the slide with some dings in the metal. Fitted with period-correct wood grips - the left panel shows noticeable handling wear and a small chip. Comes with a Colt two-tone lanyard loop magazine. The bore has strong rifling, but there is some frosting in the grooves. An early Springfield 1911 that retains much of its original finish.
