Rare, Excellent Kimber Polymer Custom 1911

06/30/26 - This is an excellent example of a rare and desirable Kimber Polymer Custom 1911. Introduced in the late 1990s, the Kimber Polymer Custom represents a unique, transitional chapter in the modernization of the 1911 platform. To compete with the growing demand for high-capacity defensive and competition handguns, Kimber partnered with BUL Transmark of Israel to utilize their advanced, steel-reinforced polymer injection-molded wide-body frame (the BUL M5). Kimber imported these lightweight frames and mated them to their own premium, precision-machined carbon steel slides and match-grade barrels at their Yonkers, New York facility. This hybrid design achieved a substantial reduction in frame weight while maintaining the crisp, single-action trigger mechanics and ergonomics prized by 1911 purists. This iteration was only produced for a short window before being succeeded by the Kimber Ten II series, making well-preserved, early "KP" serial-prefixed examples increasingly scarce and historically significant to modern modular 1911 collectors. The lightweight polymer also served to offset the added weight from this very early double stack 1911 configuration, resulting in an extremely well-balanced 1911 that was far ahead of its time. This particular example is in excellent condition, showing minimal edge wear and a few tiny scattered handling marks on the slide flats, and a light cycling mark on the lower front right side of the slide. The top of the slide also shows a hint of wear near the front sight. Bore is minty and the mechanics are excellent. Comfortable beaver tail and skeletonized hammer. It comes with two silver-tubed double stack magazines, both in excellent condition.
