Description
8/7/26 - This is an incredible No.4 Mk I (T) sniper rifle rig. These rifles were the standard British sniper rifles developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s. The receiver side wall is marked "No. 4 Mk I T", and the butt socket is marked "M47C/1945/S39505/TR". This example is almost in "time capsule" condition, looking like it just got brought back from the war. Just a tiny bit of high edge wear but minty otherwise. The bore is shiny with strong rifling but has minor oxidation in the grooves. The rifle is matching numbers throughout, and was originally telescope ready as it has the serial of the original scope on the wrist. The scope mount has the matching serial of the rifle on it, as does the scope can. The serial number of the scope is correctly numbered and matching on the wrist of the rifle. This original No. 32 MKIII scope is marked "TEL.STG.No 32 MKIII/O.S. 2039 A/No 19504/broad arrow proof". The optics are good with a clear reticle, and just a tiny hint of "fog" or cloudiness. It is fitted with its original, correct wartime smooth semi-pistol grip stock with the standard proof marks, matching serial number on the forestock and correctly stamped "S51" on behind the pistol grip area. The buttstock is fitted with a wartime metal buttplate with butt trap compartment and the correct screw-on cheekpiece. The scope tin is rare and seldom seen, as most feature the canvas case. Complete with an original WWII issue Chest S.A. No.15.Mk.1, green wooden storage/shipping container.
