Description

1/14/20 - This is a minty example of a rare Colt M1903 pistol that is marked U.S. Property on frame and attributed to two Brigadier Generals! The gun is original and correct with only very minor hints of high edge wear. Otherwise, it barely looks used, including the grips and magazine. The gun was made in 1942 for military issue, and was first presented to BG Merlin DeGuire in 1961. He commanded an Ordnance Battalion during World War II, and at one time had over 19,000 soldiers, American and German civilians, and displaced persons under his control. Shortly after his promotion to Brigadier General, he retired and the pistol was again presented to a new BG, this time it was Joseph Hardin. Hardin received various awards for his service, including the Army Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit medal, which is included with this listing. He also was interviewed at length and credited as co-author of the book Moderning The Army/Air Force Exchange Service.  A copy of the book is also included with the listing.  This is a rare find that would be quite difficult to upgrade.
