Description
02/20/26 - This is a rare, early Spreewerk P.38 made in 1942, the first year of production. The serial number indicates this was the 820th Spreewerk P.38 ever produced. Early Spreewerks featured a notably more polished finish and tighter tolerances, particularly within the first 7,000. This particular, all matching pistol lacks the rough machining that characterizes later Spreewerks, and the frame and slide fit flawlessly compared to typical Spreewerks, resulting in excellent mechanics. The finish rates at about 93%, with minor thinning on the front strap, wear on the high edges of the slide, and around the muzzle. The slide has scattered handling marks and areas of discoloration, with a few hints of minor surface oxidation on the flats. Fitted with an original set of brown grips, showing mild handling wear, though both grip panels have been damaged and repaired in the back where they insert into the magazine release. This does not effect form or function, in the hand or during disassembly. Minty bore.
