Description
10/28/22 - This is a rare and desirable Winchester Model 1897 trench shotgun from World War I. All original and in the proper serial range, and i's an especially sought after example as it is martially marked (most were not). Other correct features include the heat shield, which has 6 columns and 29 rows, and is marked 'PAT.APPL.FOR'. The bayo lug cap and muzzle are nearly flush, which is correct for the Model 1897, and the sight bead doesn't appear to have ever been moved. It has a 20in barrel with 'cyl' marking. Mag tube has a single screw (correct for WW1), and the action bar correctly is marked 'Model 1897'. Higher comb stock with checkered buttplate. The stock doesn't have any cracks but does have a couple of noticeable surface scratches, and there's a small chip in the underside. The bluing on the receiver and barrel shows age and high edge wear. Excellent bore and smooth action.Specifications
