Description
09/28/26 - For sale is a Remington Rolling Block made for the New York State Militia around 1871 to 1873. The rifle is in great shape with a bright "in the white" finish, but the surface has been cleaned. There are some areas of scattered surface oxidation/shallow corrosion. The rifle has the unique oversized hammer that drops to a 3/4 cock when the loading gate is opened. The stock has inspection stamps on each side of the wrist and on the left side of the buttstock. The forend has many dings and handling marks. There is some edge chipping in the cleaning rod channel in front of the first barrel band. The bore is bright with good rifling, but there are some patches of surface pitting visible, mainly towards the first half of the barrel.
The rifle comes with an original Rolling Block socket bayonet and scabbard. The blade is in good condition with some light surface pitting around the socket. The scabbard is heavily worn, and the leather is cracking. The hanger is torn and in rough shape.
