Description

9/8/17 - This is a Saginaw Gear S'G' made M1 Carbine from World War II.  Very nice condition to both stock and metal finish. This one is a good representation of a mid-war carbine with many early characteristics. This one clearly shows evidence of a type band and lug, so it has been “corrected” to the WWII configuration. Butt plate is IP marked and therefore correct (one of a few correct possibilities for this date/make).  S'G' carbines were produced at the Grand Rapids plant, which is also where the Irwin-Pedersen carbines were made.  So it's common to find I-P parts on these rifles.  Barrel is dated to June of 1943 and was made by Buffalo Arms.  Type 1 barrel band with unmarked swivel.  Slide, bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety, magazine catch - all marked S'G'.  Type I flip rear sight marked "S" on left side and “RG-S'G'” on the right.  High wood Oval-Cut stock with “RSG” marking in sling channel. Boxed “S'G'” marking next to the cross cannon cartouche on right side of butt stock and circle “P” mark on bottom of pistol grip. Butt plate is marked “IP-PM”. Hairline separation at recoil plate tang. Handguard is marked “RSG”.  Includes Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) certificate of authenticity, an excellent condition “KSG” marked magazine, an oiler and sling.  Minty bore.
