Description
2/13/25 - For sale is a scarce Springfield Model 1847 Musketoon made in 1851. The Model 1847 was a shortened variant of the standard Model 1842 Musket meant for cavalry use. The rifle was not very popular with the Dragoons as the ball had a tendency to fall out when mounted. The metal on the rifle is well worn with shallow pits throughout the rifle. The stock is in excellent shape with handling marks and some deep scratches on the stock that look intentional the inspector proof is half visible on the left side. The right side has "JP". The bore is dark but is rifled. The lock plate is stamped Sprignfield 1851 and the American Eagle is partially visible.Specifications
