Description
3/10/26- For sale is an M1860 Staff and Field Officer's Sword with a nice etched blade. These swords were issued during the Civil War to mid-ranked officers and this one has a nice decorative blade etching. The blade is generally clean, with some spots of patina and wear but no serious damage or chipping. The blade is acid etched with an American eagle and floral patterns on one side and the letters "U.S." on the other, along with a cannon and shield military pattern. There is a small etching at the ricasso indicating manufacture by "Morgan, Ruhl, & Morris" in Detroit. The clamshell guard is intact and the rest of the grip has mild wear and no damage. A replacement portepee tassel has been added. The scabbard is bare metal with brass fittings. There is mild patina but no damage or dents. Overall in very good condition.
