Description
9/29/25 - This is an incredibly scarce and desirable bayonet intended for use with the early Type E (first-pattern) FG42 paratrooper rifle, drawing directly from the interwar French cruciform spike form and engineered to stow beneath the barrel in a socket that doubles as the bayonet lug. Unlike later Type G late-war examples, this is a true first-pattern piece and therefore retains the knurled grip ring and original threaded endcap (the later examples removed the knurled ring and used a peened flat disk to speed production). The bayonet is in very good overall condition, with original phosphate finish about 80% retained. There is mild spotty patina throughout, and some service wear and scuffing. Functional locking mechanism
