Description
01/27/26 - This is an original Mauser Bolo pistol from shortly after the Great War. After the Armistice, the Allies imposed restrictions on German arms production, and handguns were limited in barrel length and caliber. Mauser began producing new pistols again in the early 1920s, and while the standard Mauser 7.63 mm caliber was in compliance with the Treaty of Versailles, the 5.5" barrel was too long. Instead of making guns identical to their prewar or wartime commercials but with shorter barrels, Mauser essentially put their prewar Bolo back into production. This postwar Bolo was the standard C-96 made by Mauser through the 1920s. This example is all matching and has retained about 85% of its bluing, with wear along both side rails, on the front and underside of the magazine floorplate, around the muzzle, and in a few spots along the barrel. Some dulling of the finish on both sides of the grip frame. Though the majority of the bluing remains, there is scattered light surface oxidation throughout the metal, mostly concentrated to the frame. Export marked "Germany" on the top of the barrel, and the hammer is properly NS marked for 'New Safety'. The bore is shiny with decent rifling, but is heavily oxidized throughout. The original, matching numbered wood grips are in excellent condition with minor handling marks but no chips or repairs.
