Description
08/04/26 - For sale is a National Postal Meter M1 Carbine made in 1944 with a receiver made by Union Switch & Signal. National Postal Meter had a contract of 50,000 Receivers to be made by Union Switch & Signal, and they were denoted by the "U" stamped on the bevel of the receiver. The carbine has an aging phosphate finish with the finish turning a mixture of grey and brownish patina. The stock is a Springfield Armory-made replacement. Overall, the stock is in good condition, but there is a crack stemming from the front right of the magazine well and goes about 1.5" up the side of the stock towards the front. The bore is bright with strong rifling. Barrel is marked Underwood 1-44. The carbine had been rebuilt after the war, so there is a mixture of parts, variations, and manufacturers, so it is not parts correct.
