9/23/26 - For sale is a Springfield Model 1899 Krag Short Rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag, made in 1900. The Springfield would make short rifle variations for schools/drill purposes. The Philippines would also make short rifle variations for their own and collectors would call these the "Philippine Constabulary" rifles. We are unsure which specific variation this is.
The finish on the rifle is turning a brownish grey from tarnish and patina. There are freckles of oxidation throughout and some old surface rust near the muzzle. The stock is in great shape, but the surface has been lightly sanded. The inspector stamp is barely visible on the wrist. The right side of the stock, where it meets the buttplate, has a chip. The bore is bright with good rifling. Barrel measures 22". The front sight blade and the rear band retaining pin are absent. The rear sight is a Model 1902 marked C for carbine. The slider is flipped, and the locking screw is sheared off. Comes with a Model 1905 sling that is slightly dried out.
