Description
3/26/20 - This is one of the rarest of the Nazi P.38 variations, referred to as an 'ac No Date'. Made in early 1940, there were only about 2500 were produced. This gun is all matching with the exception of the magazine. The magazine, however, is in the same date range as it is #8759. The grips are waffen proofed and numbered to the gun as well. Most importantly, is this gun "for real"? First of all, collectors never find these early guns in this condition as they were issued in 1940 and most went to the Russian front. This gun is correct in every way, and we cannot find any of the typical "tells" that you would expect on a refinished gun. The trigger spring and other springs are in the white. There are very faint "drip marks" on both sides of the slide. Also a small "thumb print" on the back of the barrel. We have included photos of these areas as they are good indicators of original finish on early Walthers. Most importantly, the third proof on the left of the slide is "raised" and over the finish. So, if this gun was restored it was done by a true artist. Honestly, we are about 50/50 on this finish, so please study the photos and decide for yourself.Specifications
