10/03/23 - Up for sale is a Swiss Model 1889 in great condition. The Model 1889 is chambered in 7.5x53.5 which is dimensionally similar to the current 7.5x55 but is unsafe to chamber and shoot. The GP90 cartridge was used with this rifle which was a very early metallic, small bore, bottlenecked, and compressed black powder cartridge before the widespread use of smokeless powder. The majority of the metal on the rifle is clean and retains about 90% of its bluing. The has matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrel, bolt, and magazine. The buttplate is in worse condition with spots of old corrosion and patina. The bore is excellent with sharp rifling and still bright. The rifle comes with a muzzle cap and a leather unmarked sling.
