Description
6/22/21 - This is a rare subvariation of the already super rare second variation Zero Series Walther P.38 from 1939. Krutzek's book calls it a variation 2b example, one of only 320 produced and only about 25 known examples! It has a milled area of the left side of the slide where the '480' marking initially resided but was removed. It is likely that these guns were rejected and reworked before final acceptance by the Heereswaffenamt. This one has all matching numbers with original, high-polish blue. Notable patches of bluing loss on the bottom of the front strap, edges of both sides of slide and muzzle, firing pin cover and near the inspection stamps on the slide. Early rectangular firing pin. Proper Zero Series style grips but unmarked internally. Safety works but not as a de-cocker. Early magazine with two E/359 proofs on spine and 'ac' marking on body but it's not numbered. Bore has strong rifling but minor frost throughout.Specifications
