Description
10/13/26 - This is a very rare, inscribed commercial Walther PPK, manufactured in 1933 and chambered in 7.65mm. The right side of the slide carries a gold presentation inscription that reads "Zur Erinnerung an die Landungsfahrt des „Graf Zeppelin“ nach Meiningen 11.10.31," which translates to "In remembrance of the landing flight of the 'Graf Zeppelin' to Meiningen, 11 October 1931." On that day the famous airship LZ 127 "Graf Zeppelin" flew in from Friedrichshafen and landed at the Meiningen airfield, a spectacle watched by a crowd of some 100,000 people, not far from the Walther factory in Zella-Mehlis. Only two examples with this inscription are known, both with matching descriptions and in the same serial range. All matching. It comes with a period-correct finger extension magazine. The gun has retained about 90% of its original finish. While there is not much actual finish loss, with most of it around the left side of the muzzle, there are some areas of heavy pitting concentrated around both sides of the muzzle, as well as small spots of pitting on most of the gun. Fitted with a brown Walther grip. A remarkable piece of interwar German aviation history. Minty bore.
