Description

11/14/24 - This is a great example of a Winchester Pattern 14 rifle chambered in .303 Brit made as aid to the British Army during WW1. The rifle was the precursor to the Model 1917 rifle used by the US Army. The rifle is in great overall condition with a nice dark, worn blued finish with it also turning brown with age. The rifle underwent an upgrade in 1916 that was a revision of the bolt lugs, making this a MK1 P14, this upgrade is identifiable by the star on the receiver, bolt and stock. This rifle did not undergo the Wheedon refurb program and thus still retains its volley sights and stock disk. The bore is great with good rifling but it is getting darker toward the muzzle. The stock on this rifle is in overall great condition but does have some light scratches and dents, but does not have any visible cracks. The right side of the stock is marked with the broad arrow, the star, the Circle IW for Mk1 Winchester, and the "PATT 14" for pattern 14 rifle. The receiver and bolt are matching, however the rear ladder sight does not match. Rifle comes with a period correct leather sling.
