Description
2/12/26- For sale is a rare checkered buttplate for a German high turret K98 sniper rifle. The checkering provided a bit more grip on the butt of the rifle to minimize slippage and ensure the most accurate shot possible. This buttplate demonstrates the correct checkering pattern and reddish paint on the inside of the plate. The checkering pattern also does not extend into the screw wells, indicating precise German manufacturing rather than modern stamping of a single sheet of checkered metal. There is a small bit of patina on the metal but no rust, deep scrapes, or other signs of serious damage. Overall in excellent condition.
