Description
9/11/25 - The S&W Victory model that was a part of the British Lend-lease program during WW2. It has a Parkerized “Black Magic” wartime finish and is stamped "U.S. Property." The pistol was originally manufactured at Springfield for Lend-Lease as shown by the serial number range. Serial number range places production in late 1943 to early 1944. Originally chambered in .38 S&W (.38/200) for British/Commonwealth service, it was accepted into British service, stamped with Broad Arrow property mark, indicating official War Department ownership. It was then transferred from British to Australian military inventory. Marked A ↑ F for Australian Forces acceptance. Likely issued to Australian Army or Royal Australian Air Force personnel. The pistol was then returned to the British military and underwent a complete Factory Thorough Repair in 1955, marked "FTR/MA55". Overhaul included disassembly, inspection, part replacement, refinishing, and reproofing. It was subsequently rechambered for .38 special. It has retained nearly all of its finish with just hints of high edge wear and some very light surface scuffs here and there. Minty bore.
