Description
6/8/26- For sale is a WWI era Vickers machine gun carrying bag. The bag was part of the field equipment set for a complete Vickers fun crew and was used to keep the gun clean and protected during transport. The bag is made from heavy canvas but has leather straps to reinforce the bag and to allow it to be hung from the side of a pack animal. These bags are particularly rare as they were abandoned after WWI in favor of a more universal hard chest. The bag has moderate wear and spots of discoloration or staining but no tears or serious damage. The leather is aged but solid and intact. There do not appear to be any markings on the bag. A scanned page from a reference book is included describing the history of the bags. Overall in very good condition and a rare piece.
