WWI Ersatz Bayonet

10/15/25- For sale is a German WWI ersatz bayonet. The ersatz bayonets were issued as emergency bayonets to supply the large expansion of the German Army in the early years of WWI. The finishings are as minimal as possible, only intended to provide a bayonet for the time it would take to provide a more complete example. The blade is generally nice, although it appears to have been blued and possibly sharpened. The blade has a stamp "XII" and a maker mark of the letters A and J around a six pointed star. Maker marks on ersatz bayonets are very rare so this is a desirable stamp. There is no handle, only a metal tang and bayonet lug. The scabbard is also plain, with only a bit of wear or patina but no damage or identifying marks. Overall very good condition.
