Description
11/3/26 - For sale is a WWI German Type 1 Luger snail drum magazine with its dust cover, numbered 35769. The 32-round Trommelmagazin 08, or "snail drum," was adopted in 1917 for the LP.08 Artillery Luger and issued to assault troops, machine gun crews, and aviators who needed far more firepower than the standard 8-round magazine. This is the early Type 1 drum, numbered "35769" on both covers, with an Imperial proof and the round count markings 12, 17, 22, 27, and 32 on the face, along with the folding winding arm and the feed tube. It comes with its sheet metal dust cover for the feed tube. The drum is in very nice condition, retaining most of its bluing, with noticeable areas of honest, spotty patina throughout and a few small dents in the body. It is fully functional with a strong spring. A great Type 1 snail drum to complete an Artillery Luger display.
