Description
11/3/26 - For sale is a WWII-era US Army enlisted visor cap with a named identification card. Made of olive drab wool with a black patent leather visor and chin strap, it carries the enlisted eagle disc on the front and eagle side buttons, and was the dress cap worn with the service uniform by Army enlisted men in the years leading up to and during WWII. The identification card in the crown pocket is filled out in pencil to "Pvt. Glenn D. Hicks, 103rd Ord. Co., Special Troops, Indiantown Gap, Penna." with a home address of "Route #2, Greencastle, Penna." Indiantown Gap was the Pennsylvania National Guard's training post, where the 28th Infantry Division mobilized and trained in 1941. The card is stamped by the retailer, "Chas. Baer, 7 S. Eighth St., Lebanon, PA." The cap is in excellent condition overall, with no visible tears or moth holes in the wool. The leather sweatband is in great condition, with just some very light scuffing, and there is some minor staining on the silk lining. A nice, named cap from a Pennsylvania soldier.
