Description
4/1/25 - This is a nice example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1, 2nd issue revolver from the 1860's. It comes with a nice presentation case with a plaque that reads "1st SGT, COB, William Magner, VOL, 57th MASS". It is attributed to a Civil War veteran, William J. Magner. He was a 1st Sergeant in the Massachusetts 57th Infantry during the Civil War. After the war, he served as deputy sheriff of Westborough, MA. He was killed in Chester Hill, MA, by a Boston-Worcester Trolley after 1897. The listing includes a binder of information about his life and career. It also includes a small folding picture frame with a picture of William and who we believe to be his wife. Overall, the gun is in nice condition for its age. There is noticeable brown "attic patina" on the barrel and some flaking in the finish on the frame. Fitted with nice wood grips - some small chips along the bottom edge of the right panel. The bore is in poor condition with heavy oxidation throughout. Fully functional. No FFL required.Specifications
