Description

3/7/24 - This is a very nice example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1917 from WWI. It is matching, "United States Property" marked, and military proofed. Comes as a rig with a nice 1917-dated holster, leather lanyard, and some half-moon clips. The top flap of the holster is marked "HQCO 76FA 39". This particular gun is attributed to Captain St. Barbe Boyd. Please see the photos for a detailed right-up on Boyd's military career. The gun itself has retained about 92% of its original high polish finish. There is general high edge wear, a roll mark on the cylinder, and spotty wear along both sides of the slide. Fitted with excellent wood grips. Excellent bore with great rifling.
