Description
2/14/25 - This is a great handmade Japanese Navy Officer's katana, called a Kai-Gunto . The blade on this katana is in great condition and the hamon (temper line) is visible. The blade does have some oxidation markings caused from fingerprints, but has no active oxidation. There is a small chip in the edge near the tip of the blade. The tsuba (hand guard) on this blade is loose. The cord wrapping is still tight, there is a split in the ray skin handle, but this is common as these swords age and the skin dries out. The scabbard on this sword is in great condition, and still has most of its black lacquered finish. There are some cracks and some chips in this finish, but the majority is still present. The second hanger (ashi) is loose but is still present. This sword would make a fine display piece for any collection.Specifications
