Description
2/26/25 - This is a very good example of a rare early K98 bayonet from 1935 made by E.u.F. Hörster. The blade this bayonet is in very good condition. The blade maintains most of it's original finish with some finish loss from scabbard wear from standard use. The blade on this bayonet still maintains it's original edge and has no signs of being sharpened. The blade does have slight tip damage. Both the bayonet and the scabbard are serial numbered "4087". The scabbard has two dents, but remains straight and functional. The scabbard comes with it's frog which is maker stamped "Otto Koberstein" and date stamped "1935". This makes this frog correct for this bayonet, and most likely was the original frog for this bayonet. This bayonet also comes with a period Portepee, however a portepee would be incorrect on this dagger. The scabbard and the blade both have the "S.155G" marking which indicates the maker as E.u.F. Hörster, and the date as 1935. This "G" code indicates that this bayonet was made as part of the secret re-armament of the German Military under the early years of Nazi Germany, in direct violation of the Treaty of Versailles.Specifications
