Description
7/28/22 - This is an engraved Civil War era Officer's Sword. The sword blade is engraved on each side, and was sold by Tiffany & Co. in New York. The ricasso is maker stamped by Collins & Co. and 1862 date stamped. Tiffany was likely the distributor or engraver. One side of the blade is engraved "US" with a floral pattern, and the other side is engraved with an American Eagle. The blade has dark surface patina and mild oxidation throughout. There's more concentrated dark discoloration and deterioration near the tip of the blade. The edge is in great condition with no signs of sharpening and no evidence of foul play. The original red cloth stopper is still intact. The brown leather handle is excellent with a tight chord winding. There's mild patina throughout the hand guard as shown. Comes with a metal sheath that's in great condition considering its age. No major dents. Surface patina and typical signs of aging throughout.Specifications
