Description

11/19/21 - This is a rare Remington UMC Model 1911 issued to the US military in 1919. Of the three manufacturers of U.S. Military 1911 pistols, the Remington-UMC is the least common with only ~21,000 produced.  This pistol has with proper "E.E.C." inspectors marking and the proper "Eagle Head" military inspection proof on the left side of the frame - this may have been re-applied. There is also a proper "E" marking at the back of the slide and on the trigger guard. Major Edmond E. Chapman was responsible for the entire Rem-UMC production. It has an "S P" marked Springfield barrel. The entire gun has been professionally restored and refinished. There is some thinning on the back grip strap, a few tiny blued-over pits on the front strap, and an area of light scratching on the left side of the slide. Comes with excellent wood grips and a refinished period-correct lanyard loop magazine. Excellent bore with strong rifling.
