Description
1/28/22 - This is a nice example of a rare JP Sauer Gewehr 98 issued to the Imperial German military in 1917. It is entirely matching (including the stock and butt plate) except for the bolt, which is mismatched. The gun is made by JP Sauer, which is one of the rarest Gewehr 98 makers. It has the proper Imperial German military proofs throughout. There is also a "1920" government property stamp on the receiver, indicating the gun remained in government service after WW1. Overall, the gun is in nice condition with very little actual finish loss. There is somewhat scratchy minor wear around the muzzle and on the front barrel band. There is thinning and light brown patina on the floor plate. Some light scratches on the trigger guard. Spotty oxidation on the butt plate. The stock is numbered to match the gun and has the proper Imperial proofs. There are noticeable dings, bruises, and scratches throughout. Comes with an original cleaning rod and leather sling. The bore is minty.Specifications
