5/7/25 - For sale is a Gewehr 98 originally assembled in 1916 by Mauser Oberndorf using a recycled 1915 receiver, that was then updated to Gewehr 98m spec. The rifle is marked "EWB" for the Einwohnerwehr Bayern, a militia in Bavaria. The metal shows plenty of finish loss and dotting of oxidation. The magazine floor has been touched up with cold blue. The stock has been sanded but is free of any cracks. The bolt has been bent down and the stock has been scalloped for the bent bold handle. The bore has strong rifling but is starting to darken. There is a hint of brightness when shining a light. The rifle is mostly matching but the bolt cocking sleeve, safety flag, and magazine floor have been re-stamped to match.
