Description
3/3/22 - This is a stunning example of a BYF 44 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi police force in 1944. The slide and frame have a phosphate finish while the barrel is blued, giving this gun its iconic dual-tone appearance. It has the proper police "Eagle F" approval marking on the right side of the slide. It also has a "Waffen 135" military proof, indicating it was approval for military service before it was diverted to the police. This is a very rare variation - only about 1,500 made! The barrel and locking block are technically mismatched and numbered "5277". Because it's so close in number, it is probably just a factory mistake, but we can't say for sure. It has retained nearly all of its original finish with just very minor wear around the muzzle. There are tiny dots of discoloration on the phosphate parts, typical for this finish. Comes with excellent reddish grips and a rare late-war "U"-marked phosphate magazine. The bore is shiny with very strong rifling and very minor frosting at the edges of the grooves. De-cocker is functional.Specifications
