Description
2/17/26- For sale is a 1940 dated K98 bayonet and scabbard pair. The bayonet has patchy patina and loss of bluing on both sides of the blade. There does not appear to be any sharpening or chipping to the blade. One side of the the blade is marked "F. W. Holler", the other side is serialized 9799a, and the spine of the blade is marked 40. The grips have light wear and are fully intact with no chips or scratches. The spring-loaded locking lug is stuck and can only be moved by gentle tapping with a mallet. It may be possible to loosen it up with some work. There are a few WaffenAmt stamps on the edge of the pommel. The scabbard has light wear and loss of finish, along with one shallow crossways dent/bent around the middle of the scabbard. The mouth of the scabbard is marked "Berg & Co. 1940" and is serialized 9468, which is a somewhat close serial to the bayonet but no match. Overall in good condition.
