1/2/20 - This 1940 dated Mauser Luger is all original and has the rare, reddish Krieghoff grips on it. The book on Mauser Lugers indicates that a very small set of 1940 lugers have these grips on them from the factory. It is assumed that they experimented with the HK grips as an option before they started making their own black plastic grips. Page 210 of the book indicates that these grips are found in the G to K blocks, so the H block is right in the middle of this group of 1940 Lugers. The guns original finish is about 85-90% with most of the wear being on the grip straps. The gun has all matching parts including the hold open and firing pin, except for the magazine which is period correct but numbered to a different Luger. The bore is fairly shiny with strong rifling. I would rate it an 8 out of 10. The gun functions well and has no import marks.
