Description

10/7/22 - This is a very nice example of a St. Etienne Berthier MLE M16 rifle issued to the French military in 1917. The gun is dated and serial-numbered on the barrel under the hand guard (see photos). The is gun is mismatched but has no import marks. It appears the gun has been arsenal refurbished, as the bluing is a bit dark, and there are areas of minor pitting under the finish. Very little actual bluing loss, but there are some tiny dings on the magazine and some areas of spotty oxidation on the trigger guard and butt plate. No visible markings on the stock. There is no major damage to the wood, but there is minor bruising and scratching throughout. Very nice bore with good rifling and some minor pin-pricking in the grooves. Comes with a reproduction leather sling.
