Description
1/16/23 - This is an original Springfield M1903 rifle made in the early 1930s. The serial number on the receiver puts production date in 1931, while the rifle barrel is 1928 dated, which is a proper match for the receiver. The metal parts of the rifle are blued and show significant bluing loss. We rate around 65% overall condition, as there's surface patina throughout the receiver, rear sight, barrel bands, bolt assembly, and butt plate. The barrel has excellent bluing and the bore rates about 8/10 overall with some signs of previous use and patina within the grooves, but strong rifling throughout and no excessive wear. The rifle comes with a period correct stock with 2 screws and hand groove. The stock has been sanded and the original proof marks have mostly faded out of the wood and aren't visible. The P proof is visible on the underside of the stock however. The back right corner of the buttstock has a chip (see photos) but there are no other notable cracks or chips in the wood. The upper hand guard has some sort of lot number stamp on the exterior, and we were unable to remove this wood as the bayo lug / barrel band doesn't fully unscrew to take this rifle apart. Price reduced accordingly. Fully functional with smooth operation.Specifications
