Description

11/18/22 - This is a very nice example of an early Springfield Model 1903 rifle initially issued to the US military in 1905. It was later reworked and re-issued during WW2, as evidenced by its 1944-dated High Standard barrel. There is also a "RA-P" Raritan Arsenal rework marking on the left side of the stock. The gun has retained nearly all of its new parkerized finish with areas of light spotty wear around the muzzle, front barrel band, and bolt handle. While there isn't a lot of finish loss, there is some light spotty surface rust on the butt plate. Most of the stock is excellent, but there are two hairline cracks in the front portion of the upper hand guard. The bore has strong rifling, but there are some areas of light surface oxidation here and there.
