Description

8/4/22 - This is a very nice example of a Springfield Armory Model 1903 originally issued to the US military in 1910. This rifle was reworked for re-issue during WW2. It has a Commercial Controls bolt and a High Standard barrel dated for August 1944. The rifle is in overall good condition, there is some finish loss/thinning and patina throughout. The wooden stock is in nice condition overall showing minor handling wear throughout. There is a gorge in the stock behind the receiver and bolt assembly above the wrist. This gouge appears aged as the wood has darkened within it and there are no cracks or indications of structural issue surrounding the gouge. The hand guard does appear to be replaced as the texture and sheen are inconsistent with the rest of the stock. Comes with a Vietnam-era nylon sling and WW2 canvas muzzle dust cover. The bore is minty. The action is very smooth.
