SOLD - Vickers Dutch Model 1906 Luger (9082 - 24728)

3/21/24 - The Vickers Dutch model was made specifically for military sales to the Netherlands. This model represents one of the more interesting Luger stories. These were actually manufactured in 1921 or 1922 in the 1906 style. The Dutch military knew and liked this configuration of Luger, but due to the Versailles Treaty, DWM could not legally produce or sell pistols with both this barrel length, and in this caliber. The result was a contact with Vickers to manufacture the Luger design licensed from DWM. About 6,000 made. Virtually all of these guns were arsenal reworked and are often in very rough condition. Vickers Lugers have an almost rough, bead blasted metal finishing beneath standard rust blue. Many have replaced barrels that are dated - this one has a 1933-dated replacement barrel. Most have a brass plate brazed to the left side of the frame that is unit marked. This one has one that is marked "Vb. G. III. 93". It is all matching, "Crown W" Dutch Royal proofed, and has the proper "RUST" safety marking. British proofs on the underside of the barrel. The finish rates roughly 85% with spotty, somewhat scratchy wear concentrated on the barrel, high edges, and grip straps. Fitted with matching-numbered wood grips and comes with a blank wood-bottom magazine - the base is pretty beat-up. Very nice bore with great rifling. The spring for the grip safety is a bit weak but still functional.
