Description

7/25/23 - This is a nice example of an early DWM Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1905. It is mostly matching, but the bolt and rear sight are mismatched. No import marks. The stock disc has a "151. R. 2. 8." military unit marking. The stock is numbered and matching. Comes with a reproduction leather sling and an original cleaning rod. The metal parts have retained roughly 75% of their original finish with wear around the muzzle and some thinning on the receiver and floor plate / trigger group. While there isn't a ton of actual finish loss, there is noticeable browning patina covering all of the metal parts. Some minor pitting on the barrel. The wood furniture has no major damage, but there is scratching and bruising throughout. Very nice bore with good rifling.
