Description
3/18/24 - This is a nice example of a Japanese Arisaka Type 38 Carbine. It is mismatched and has a defaced mum stamp on the receiver. There is an added Japanese character on the breech and two zeros "00" in front of the serial number, indicating this is a "school gun". These rifles were retired from military service and re-issued for use in training police forces, paramilitary groups, and their equivalent to high school ROTC organizations. This one has retained about 90% of its finish. The majority of the finish loss is on the floor plate. While there isn't a ton of actual finish loss, there is noticeable brown patina and light spotty oxidation covering virtually all of the metal parts. The wood furniture shows the typical signs of wear, and there is a barely-visible repaired crack around the wrist. The rifling in the bore is worn with pin-pricking throughout.Specifications
