Description
11/19/20 - Here's a pretty nice old antique Colt Model 1877 "Lightning" revolver. The Model 1877 was Colt's first attempt at a double action revolver and is chambered for the .38 Long Colt cartridge. It has an outward appearance similar to that of the famous Single Action Army with a solid frame and loading gate. This revolver wears a 4-1/2" barrel with ejector rod. The serial number is matching on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder and both hard rubber grips. Overall condition is very good and there is quite a bit of the original bright blue and case color finish remaining. There are some assorted handling marks, thinning of the finish on the grip straps, sharp edges and surfaces of the cylinder. There is some corrosion scattered about but most notable on the right side of the gun and one side of the cylinder. Good case colors remain on the frame and the hammer, trigger, and screws still show bright fire blue finish. The various screw heads are sharp, not buggered, and all factory markings are clear. The original hard rubber grips are in excellent shape, fit factory perfect, and are properly numbered in pencil to the gun. This revolver functions well in both single and double action. Timing is good and lock-up is excellent with the trigger held to the rear. The bore is excellent. The Colt Lightning revolver was a favorite of infamous outlaws like "Billy the Kid" and John Wesley Hardin. According to the serial number, this old girl was made back in 1897. It comes with an extra set of genuine stag grips. This is a nice solid example, particularly for an antique!Specifications
