Description
10/5/26 - This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1944. It is all correct with all the proper markings, including the "GHD" military inspection initials on the left side of the frame and the crossed cannons cartouche on the right side, and it is fitted with a proper WWII "COLT 45 AUTO" marked barrel. According to the included Colt factory letter, it was shipped from the Colt factory on May 17, 1944 to a Transportation Officer at the Springfield Armory. The gun's original parkerized finish rates about 94% with general high edge and muzzle wear - the high edge wear is mostly on the right side of the gun. Fitted with excellent period-correct reddish plastic grips and comes with a correct "L" marked magazine. The bore has great rifling, but there is some light frosting in the grooves. A well-documented wartime Colt that comes with its factory letter.
