Description

7/15/21 - This is an excellent example of a matching and original Nazi Model 98k that was made in 1942 at the Gustloff Werke factory. All matching numbers throughout, with only minor wear to bluing on metal parts. Parts of the bolt assembly are unnumbered, possible that they were replaced. Stock is Eagle/C marked, indicating it was made by Hermann Menzel of Dresden, which is correct for this variation. Stock also properly does not have Eagle/H proofs on it as this was standard for 'bcd' guns from 1942 to early '44. Strong bore with only minor frost. Original cleaning rod and sight hood included. The only knock is the postwar marking on the stock, which reads 'Pierre Chevallard Agriculteur Testour'. Our best guess is that the owner put his name and profession on the stock, as 'agriculteur' means 'farmer' in French, and Testour is a city in Tunisia. The gun is otherwise all original and in great shape. Some oxidation on the front bands, and there's some handling wear from disassembly around the recoil lug.
