Description
7/10/24 - This is an original 32lb Stand of Grape; and artillery round used for close quarters and naval bombardment. These were used during The War of 1812 through the Civil War. This example is in great condition; still covered in the original tar-treated canvas material. The original string holding the assembly together is tight and intact throughout as well. The shot consists of 12 small 3in diameter cast iron balls clustered together, sitting on a cast iron stand. The stand shows natural age and patina with no markings or stamps. Measures about 9.5 inches tall, and the stand has a diameter of 6 inches. An incredibly preserved piece of US history. (Note this is an inert round with no fuse or gunpowder.)Specifications
