Description
7/11/24 - This is a 1st pattern German Army DAK Pith Helmet from WW2. The helmet features a cork brim and frame, and is in great overall condition with some natural aging and use wear. The exterior of the helmet has both original decals securely attached. The decals have natural age and patina yet retain excellent detail. The exterior brown linen has some mild scuffs and stains but no major issues. The original leather chin strap is still attached, but the leather is worn and cracking, plus there's three areas where the chinstrap has been glued together. These are generally located where the leather bends around the top of the brim. The cork brim / skeleton of this helmet has mild pliability due to age, but is completely intact and not breaking down or falling apart (as they often are). The leather edging around the brim is tattered and worn in areas, shown in photos. The interior leather headband shows use wear and light tattering along the edges. Maker stamped by the left ear. The interior headband is ink stamped "242" and size "57". There's also a size sticker "57" found on the interior red crown portion of the liner. The interior crown is maker stamped with an Assmann "A". Overall a great condition, early DAK Pith Helmet.Specifications
